Chapter Sixteen:

Graham & Emory

Emory Dawson awakes alone in her bed dazed and confused after a night drinking and…holy shit! She sits up when she remembers Special Agent Graham King. They’d stumbled from Head and Cocktails together in the wee hours of the night and had gone to his apartment. Oh…and the things they had done there. Why is she here in her bed then?

The words, “I’m a sexual Dominant” still ringing in her ears. Oh yeah, that’s why. Emory was not about to fall for that shit again. Nope. She knew she’d be stronger in the morning if she wasn’t in his bed or his arms when she woke up.

Graham had admitted to the kinky lifestyle and Emory’s first reaction had been to run. After her first and only dealings with a military man who was also practicing in the lifestyle, no thank you. But Graham was different in some way, maybe every way. Graham was wounded both physically and emotionally, Emory could see that. Maybe they could help each other, for a little while at the very least.

After Emory’s failed relationship with a man who sought to control her every thought, her every emotion, only to leave her for the next piece of action, she had sworn off men. Especially men who worked for Uncle Sam and wanted to punish their women for everything wrong in the world. And had daddy issues. Graham King is harboring sour feelings for his father, but she feels a connection to the ex-soldier that she wanted to explore in the most basic of ways…sexually.

But its Emory’s turn this time around, she remembers thinking that thought last night before acting on it. She never thought a strong, confident man like Graham King would go for it, but fuck if he didn’t and they’d both enjoyed themselves.

So how the hell did she end up here alone? Her question is answered when she hears the shower turn on in her private bath. Emory Dawson is not alone. So much for being stronger in the morning.

She pulls back the covers to reveal her naked body as her bedroom door flies open and in storms Dale. Emory reaches for the covers but it’s too late. Dale saw her naked and hears the shower. “Fuck, sorry,” she whispers, eyebrows so high they’ve disappeared into her bangs. “The hot, wounded, brooding soldier?”

Emory nods.

“Okay, we’ll do the post mortem later, but just answer the one question you know I need immediately.”

“As big as every other part of his body,” Emory smirks. “And he knows how to use it.”

“Biiiiitch!” Dale hisses as she backs out of Emory’s room with a whistle.

Emory runs a nervous hand through her hair as the water clicks off. She sits up and wraps the sheet around her body, securing it under her arms as the door to her bathroom opens and oh, holy hotness…a wet, half naked Graham King, scars, wounds and all emerges like a god out of the fires of hell. Emory loses her breath and all semblance of thought.
